Captian Executor Cerebrate Moo's Guide to the world of
S T A R C R A F T

Even the most seasoned players have issues with certain abilities, or even whole races, that they are simply not familiar with. This guide will do all it can to help shed some light on those odd things you may need a bit of help with. Maybe you will even get some new strategies for a unit you never thought of before. Maybe you will reconsider building a dozen of your "ultimate unit" after reading this guide. Maybe you will just print this out and use it for toilet paper... for your dog... when it has diarrieha...

But until then, enjoy the guide. The unit stats are fairly self explanatory, but here are some special things you should know:

Damage Type:
Units in starcraft can deal 3 types of damage for their main attacks.
A) The first damage type is normal, which deals the full amount of damage to every type of unit and building. This is the best type of attack.
B) The Second is Explosive, which deals full damage to large units and buildings, 75% against medimum sized units, and only 50% damage to small units. An "e" next to damage means explosive damage
C) The last is Concussive, and is exclusive to certain terran units. It is the worst type of damage. While it deals full damage to small units, it only deals half to medium sized units, and a measly 25% against large units and buildings. A "c" next to damage means concussive damage
D) Should the damage amount also have a "s" next to it, this means that the attack will deal splash damage to other units near or on top of the attack. The closer the unit is to the center of the attack, the more damage delt. (works best on flying units)

Also you may see a (x2) or a (x3) next to certain damages. This means that the attack hits a unit that many times to reach its full damage. For example, a Terran Goliath's air attack has a modifer of x2, meaning that each of its missles do half of the listed damage, but since it shoots two, it automatically reaches full damage when it hits. So besides that slightly confusing explanation, what does this mean? Well since an attack must hit x2 or x3 times, armor is x2 or x3 as effective on it, as armor adds defense per hit. So goliath missles fly at a unit with 1 armor. Instead of armor protecting against 1 point of damage, it will block both attacks for a total of 2. If it have two armor, the missles will get 4 points of damage blocked, and so on. Makes armor VERY useful against attacks with these modifiers.

And some notes about upgrading:

Besides the reaver, all unit's weapon damage can be upgraded three times. the +X number is the total amount of damage it can be upgraded to. Simply devide that by 3 to find out the damage increase per upgrade. The reaver's damage can only be upgraded once.

All unit's armor can be upgraded 3 times at +1 each time. The only exceptions are the Overlord, which can not increase it's armor at all, and the Ultralisk that can also increase it's armor an additional +2 with a special upgrade.

All protoss sheilding starts off at 0, and can be upgraded 3 times for a total of +3. When you upgrade protoss sheilding, ground units, air units, and buildings all get the bonus.
