As part of the research program I'm in at the University of Maryland, my group and I wrote a paper regarding Anonymous Communications systems.

As we develop more content, it will also be posted in the Library, as well as our final project (a free client of some kind).

Abstract
This paper aims to review what has already been done in the field of obtaining and distributing anonymity over the Internet. The coverage includes several anonymous communication protocols that have been developed, starting with older protocols such as Dining Cryptographers and Chaum mixes and ending with newer protocols like CliqueNet and Freenet. Discussion continues with the ethics of computer usage and anonymity, along with an argument that anonymous protocols should be developed despite the fact that they can potentially be used for immoral purposes. Finally, proposals for several new areas for research in both technical and ethical areas of anonymity establish a pathway for future research.
