(Continued from part 3)
Plasma Fiesta began with the discovery of deanero's perfectly trimmed, almost golf-worthy lawn, and with the discovery that some lucky people had gotten there before us. But before the games started, we all trooped out into the backyard for dinner, where some surprises awaited. Dean had really pulled out all the stops- not only was there a fully stocked ice cream freezer, but there was a taco bar and chef! This proved to be quite popular, and soon we were sitting around in the fine southern California weather with our tacos and ice cream (I'm sure there are tacos somewhere in that picture. Left to right: ?, Louis, ?, Cunbelin, Dean, Brian/SketchFactor, Miguel. Shishka, ?). While chatting with the Bungie guys, we were interrupted by the extremely loud and low flight of an FA-18 Hornet, and then it was time for games!
The first game I played in was a small one, as the other players were all busy. The Bungie.org lanparty traditions were out in force here, as we had both someone named after a contemporary forum lamer and someone named "Louis Woooo", who managed to get second place in this Battle Creek Slayer match despite making nearly all his kills with stuck plasma grenades. Then the party kicked into high gear with a massive Sidewinder CTF game. After another break for more ice cream and discussions, we took in some BG rocket CTF using every Xbox in the room. We made the unfortunate discovery at this time that wireless networking is not really suitable for Halo (at least in Dean's house), causing the best-looking TV to lag badly at times. The game was eventually taken by Psyjnir, and then we all jumped in for some Oddball. One of the Oddball matches was melee-only and graded on kills, which Dolbex won handily, earning a Halo 2 poster from Brian. One last game of Team Oddball and we were all herded into the backyard for a group shot. If anyone can identify all the people in this shot, please tell me so I can update this article.
It was about 1 AM by now, so we went back home, but returned to Dean's house the next day for even more Halo action since we had nothing else to do. This was a much smaller gathering featuring only me, Shish, Cunbelin, Dean of course, and Shish's friend Rayme playing some fairly silly games.
On Sunday, it was over, and I got one last look at Los Angeles before heading back to New York City.
And now we leave you with what you all came here to see:
