SSoP Reports are now actually being looked at! We have finished the SSoP Dispute Console which allows you to view SSoP reports against your gates, as well as allows admins to look at reports and communicate with you about a solution.

Alteran Stargate 1.1 Released

RC4 Rev 2 Stargate End-of-Life

I am going to be cutting support for the RC4 Rev 2 versions of the networked Alteran Stargate. These gates will no longer function. There seems to be only ~ 35 gates running that code version, so it shouldn't matter much.

I hope to have the 1.1 release out within the next 2 days.

You will all be happy (and Lex, especially) to know that the Alpha-Fox forums are now "integrated" with the rest of the website. What does this mean? This means that the template is the same all across the board. You won't be able to tell that you are going from the website to the forum and back.

Second Life New Feature Idea: Spatialized Streaming Sources

I had an idea for a new feature inSL.
The idea uses existing voice technology to allow a prim to be a spatial sound source for the streaming audio for a parcel.
One of the downsides to parcel media is that it's ever-present... you hear it from everywhere all the time. For realism, it would be far better to be able to have the audio respect spatial sources. To do this, you would need to be able to define a prim as being a "spatial parcel audio source" via a checkbox in the prim editor. Then, in the parcel media settings, there would be a checkbox that restricts the parcel audio to be only heard from defined spatial source prims. This would need to function for either parcel music or parcel media, so that televisions could be the source of the sound of the stream.

No longer would you be blasted with the sound from a video you cannot see when entering a parcel that has this feature turned on.

New Abilities in the Stargate Database

We have added the ability (with prodding from Lex Mars) to specify what region you want to look at gates from for the ASN database page. Simply by adding "/region/[NAME]/" to the URL will let you filter by regions.

For example:

Open Letter to the leaders of the United States

The following is an Open Letter to all members of the government of the United States of America.

Greetings,

As a long time resident of rural western NC, I feel the effects of the current "Credit Crunch" very strongly. After reading about the fate of the "bailout", I started wondering why that money isn't applied in a way right out of our own history books.

What if the federal government were to create a program to pay citizens for installing wind/solar power generating systems on their land. Land that is currently unused for agriculture could be used to build wind turbine or solar farms.

A land owner would apply to the program. An engineer would come out and evaluate the property to determine if wind or solar would be more efficient, and the land owner would be paid for granting an easement for the construction and maintenance of the generator system.
This would create a large need for manufacturing of new generators, towers, solar systems, electronics controls, etc. Give special bonuses for companies that can provide solutions that are "Made in the USA".

We would drastically reduce our dependence on foreign power, stimulate the economy, create new jobs, stimulate research in alternative power generation, and give land owners a source of recurring income for years to come, while providing their local area with energy.

The government helping its citizens to help each other.

It's just a thought.
